A HONEYMOON IN PARIS
The Eiffel Tower loomed elegantly in the distance, its iron lattice glowing in the twilight. Sirius stood with his arm wrapped around Remus, sorry , his husband’s waist, watching the city transform as the sun dipped below the horizon. The warm hues of dusk washed over them, and the atmosphere was thick with romance.
“Can you believe we’re actually here?” Sirius grinned, his dark hair tousled by the gentle breeze. “Paris, the city of love, and we get to enjoy it as newlyweds!”
Remus chuckled softly, leaning against Sirius. “I always thought we’d end up on some quiet beach, but this... this is perfect.”
“Not to mention it’s a little more exciting than sand in our shoes,” Sirius teased, his eyes sparkling. “Imagine the stories we’ll tell Lily and James!”
“Stories that might make them a bit envious,” Remus replied, his voice warm. “Especially about that time you nearly fell into the Seine trying to take a picture.”
“Hey, that was a strategic move to get you to save me!” Sirius laughed, nudging Remus playfully.
As they strolled along the Seine, the reflections of the city danced on the water’s surface. Sirius paused, pulling Remus closer. “You know, I’ve been thinking…”
“Oh?” Remus raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued.
Sirius grinned mischievously. “How about we find a cozy little café, order some pastries, and let me sweep you off your feet?”
“Isn’t that what you’re doing already?” Remus quipped, his heart racing at the warmth of Sirius’s body so close to his.
“Touché,” Sirius smirked, leaning in closer. “But I’d like to do it with a side of crème brûlée.”
“Alright, you’ve convinced me,” Remus said, pretending to consider it. “But only if you promise to let me have the first bite.”
Sirius’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Deal, but only if I can feed you.”
“Are you sure you’re up for that? You might end up with it all over your face,” Remus teased, a playful smile gracing his lips.
“Oh, I’m counting on it,” Sirius replied, his voice low and flirtatious.
They found a charming café tucked away on a cobbled street, its wrought iron tables adorned with tiny vases of blooming flowers. As they settled into their seats, Sirius ordered a selection of pastries, his enthusiasm infectious.
“You spoil me,” Remus said, his eyes softening as he watched Sirius animatedly chatter with the waiter.
“Only the best for my husband,” Sirius declared proudly, and Remus felt a rush of warmth at the title.
When the pastries arrived, Sirius immediately picked up a flaky croissant and held it out to Remus. “Open wide!”
Remus laughed, taking a delicate bite, but as he chewed, Sirius leaned in, his breath warm against Remus’s cheek. “I have to say, you look incredibly charming with a bit of pastry dust on your lips.”
Remus wiped his mouth, trying to hide a grin. “You’re just looking for an excuse to kiss me.”
“Guilty as charged,” Sirius said, leaning closer until their lips almost touched. “But can you blame me?”
Before Remus could respond, Sirius closed the gap, kissing him softly. The world around them faded; the laughter of passersby, the clinking of cups, all disappeared as they melted into each other.
When they finally pulled apart, Remus’s cheeks were flushed, and he couldn’t help but chuckle. “You really are hopeless.”
“Hopelessly in love,” Sirius corrected, his tone earnest. “With you.”
The warmth of Sirius's gaze made Remus’s heart swell. “I feel the same way.”

the judgement OF paris
paris and ares!
listen. LISTEN. I'm so fucking obsessed with the Excidium Troie, especially in a longer discussion of Paris and personal/narrative agency, and also in the general realm of, hey! so a god looks on you favorably! you followed the right steps, you passed the test you didn't know you were taking, you obeyed the right rules, and now you have a favorable reputation!
now your life is no longer yours, whatever comes after will be bloody and ugly on a scale you could not ever hope predict. fucking RIP, paris. your character will be corrupted, you will cease to exist as you did before, you were doomed before you were born, this WILL come to pass whether you were aware that you were the instrument of destruction or not.

this shot is so simple and obvious but i love it. the beam of sunlight dividing the room, the invading instrument of claudia's death, close enough for louis to hurt himself with; but does louis know that it's no real barrier for armand? does louis know that armand could cross that threshold and reach him? does louis know that armand could get up and close the curtains if he wanted the room to be safe, but leaves them open anyway? does louis still believe the sun holds as much power over armand as it does over him?

Why did Apollo favor the trojans in the Illiad?
So, dear Anon, I've been thinking about how to answer this question since I got it a couple days ago and I think I kind of want to make something clear before I get into it.
The Iliad by itself as a poem only covers some of the events that occur in the final year of a long protracted conflict that had been brewing for at least two decades and was an active war for ten. Within the space of the Iliad itself, the motivations and affairs of the major players are often referenced but there are many, many parts of the story that are not there because they belong to a different story cycle that has been since lost or was never recorded with words. In the space of the Iliad Apollo's motivations are questioned a lot - his pride is questioned by Poseidon who thinks Apollo should be just as angry at the Trojans as he considering Apollo was treated equally as poorly by Laomedon while they worked together. His honour is questioned by Hera who chastises him for taking the Trojans' side when he'd proclaimed that Achilles would live a long life and prosper at Thetis and Peleus' wedding. His own sister calls him a coward for refusing to fight when Zeus gives permission for the gods to go wild on the battlefield. For all that there's this image of Apollo in the Iliad as some staunch and unwavering protector of the Trojans, believe it or not, I largely think of Apollo as neutral in the war.
Which, I suppose, comes back to the question - why did Apollo favour the Trojans? The truthful answer is that I don't know. The Iliad and all its connected stories isn't something I've done enough research on to have an answer or a reference to an answer off the top of my head. The reasoning I'm aware of is that Apollo was a Patron God of Troy and really a god doesn't need any reason besides that to protect his people but it's not like Apollo abandoned the Greeks either. Calchas is the biggest example of that I can point to - descended directly from a priest of Apollo and one who attributed his mantic power to the god, Calchas was pivotal in ensuring the Greeks even got to Troy in the first place.
From a personal perspective however, I think Apollo was more dedicated to the house of Priam than he was the city of Troy itself. Apollo's affection for that house and all its members ran deep - from his admiration of Hecuba and Hector to his love and attempted courtship of Cassandra to his blessings given to Helenus, Deiphobos, Cassandra, Troilus and even his partnership with Paris - Apollo loved the house of Priam. When you think about the times Apollo lashes out against the Greeks, it's generally because they've done some nonsense to earn his ire. The plague was caused by Agamemnon disrespecting his priest, his aid in the slaughter of Patroclus was because he didn't respect him, his minor grudge against Diomedes too was because he tried to test Apollo's mettle and well, the less said about Achilles the better. Apart from his obvious favouring of Hector in the skirmishes, Apollo doesn't really oppose the Greeks. He has a ton of reasons to by the time the Iliad rolls around, including avenging the death of two of his sons, but he remains mostly satisfied with conducting his father's business and overseeing the war from a somewhat professional perspective. To me, it's always been less about Apollo caring about the fate of Troy as a city itself and more about him just really wanting to protect the people in the city that he's come to love and respect.
Of course, I encourage you to take my words with a big tablespoon of salt - like I said, I don't really know enough about the facts in particular to give a solid, confident answer but I can give you my interpretation of it. Maybe consult someone like @littlesparklight for a more comprehensive and grounded response 🤔

Last night I was discussing with @ernestonlysayslovelythings that one of the things Gilmore Girls does really well is nuance. In terms of conflict, most characters will be a little bit right and a little bit wrong (as it tends to be in life), and yet many viewers will automatically side with one particular character. Lorelai and Rory (Rory in particular) tend to often be seen as in the wrong, and this intrigues and frustrates me. While a lot of the time they are 'in the wrong', so is the other character, and yet this is rarely acknowledged. Information which the other character has (and the audience has) is not given to Lorelai and Rory and yet they are still criticised for it (which other posts have gone into).
Emily and Paris are fan favourites and it's easy to understand why; they are funny, sarcastic and outspoken and yet also have vulnerability. Viewers will often take Emily's side in an argument with Lorelai and Paris's with Rory, which I find frustrating, because the reasoning seems to be either that Emily and Paris are 'more funny' or that Lorelai and Rory are 'annoying'. Emily and Paris are funny (Paris in particular is exaggerated as a side character) but they can also be very mean. Lorelai and Rory are not intentionally mean, generally speaking, yet a key element of Emily and Paris's characterisation is unkindness. Of course, this is largely for comedic effect (such as Emily firing maids and Paris making Brad cry), and yet Lorelai and Rory seem to be held to a higher standard. Emily and Paris can be very cruel to Lorelai and Rory (ie Emily's ongoing disgust over her daughter's romantic life or lack of and Paris bullying Rory at school) but it doesn't seem to 'count'. Viewers identify the reasons for this; such as Emily's hurt over Lorelai running away or Paris feeling intimidated by Rory, but do not extend the same understanding to Lorelai and Rory. Lorelai can be immature and shut out her parents, which is due to an unhappy childhood, and Rory sometimes wants space (which I don't personally find unreasonable), but that apparently means they're 'arrogant'.
This lack of nuance is also notable with Jess. With non-Literati shippers, many viewers write Jess off as the asshole exboyfriend who has 'exaggerated' his unhappy life with Liz and is 'ungrateful' to Luke. On the flip side, many Literati shippers take the view that Jess never does anything wrong and Luke is a total jerk. Again, there is nuance here; Jess is not infallible and, like all the characters, he is right and wrong about certain things. While there is zero evidence that Jess exaggerated anything (although some fans seem to exaggerate for him), he can be rude and perhaps seem ungrateful, but it is understandable. He acts this way because he had an unreliable mother who sent him to live in a strange town with his uncle without any say, and he lashes out because he is angry and not listened to. In S6 when Jess has grown up, he appreciates what Luke did for him, because he has the maturity to see it. Luke, for his part, did his best and also messed up because he stubbornly thought he knew what he was doing, and didn't think he needed advice. It does not negate the fact that he cared and tried his hardest. As with Lorelai and Emily, Luke and Jess are both right and both wrong with their reaction to things.
It's also interesting that within Literati shippers, the majority of people will take Jess's side in a conflict with him and Rory. Jess and Rory are flawed people (who are also very young) who manage to hurt each other deeply. Rory runs away after kissing Jess because she does not know how to handle her feelings, which Jess perceives as her thinking he isn't worth staying for and, a year later, Jess leaves town without saying goodbye, which Rory also wrongly perceives as a rejection. Neither of them intend to be cruel and yet, according to numerous Lit shippers, Jess was hurting and Rory 'couldn't see it'. Of course she couldn't see it - Jess never communicated to her that he was in trouble at high school and had to drop out, or that his father showed up, or anything else going on with him. She could see something was wrong but couldn't help him. Likewise, Rory never communicated to Jess that she was feeling mixed up about being with Dean and later with Logan, but somehow this understanding isn't extended to Rory. Jess and Rory are both fallible and are both written with excellent nuance.
One of the best things about Gilmore Girls is how well it reflects growing up and our relationships in real life. Situations are rarely binary and, as we mature, we can often look at conflict more objectively and see 'the other side'. Lorelai and Rory, along with most of the characters they interact with, are written with depth. When they mess up or miscommunicate, it doesn't mean they 'wrong' or not worth caring about - it means they have something to learn from. They are funny, frustrating, vulnerable and have moments of clarity, just as with real people.
